Anar Janmammadov is a partner at MGB Law Offices and joined the firm in 2007. He has more than 10 years of experience in advising and representing foreign companies as well as financial international institutions in commercial transactions and contentious matters.
Anar is a strong litigator and has successfully represented a number of foreign companies before the Azerbaijani courts in tax, debt recovery, employment, property, intellectual property enforcement, environmental and other type of disputes. He recently won a court case on behalf of a financial international institution for the recovery of US$ 16.3 million from a local company. He also advised a leading Austrian construction company on the matters of Azerbaijani law in ICC Arbitration (London) in relation to a claim for the recovery of multi million US Dollar debt from a local property developer.
Anar is also experienced in negotiating disputes out of court. He successfully negotiated a settlement agreement on behalf of a South Korean construction company with an Azerbaijani state company for the payment of US 8.5 million to the construction company.
In addition to representing clients in contentious issues, Anar has developed a wide experience in advising foreign companies in transactional matters. He regularly advises foreign financial institutions such as EBRD, BSTD in project finance, secured and unsecured loan transactions. He also represented a multinational insurance company in the acquisition of a major shareholding interest in one of the Azerbaijani leading insurance company.
Anar has a deep knowledge of Azerbaijani distributorship and agency law and advises foreign manufactures (including manufactures of cars, oil lubricants, fashion clothes, pharmaceutical products and food) in drafting and reviewing distributorship and agency agreements from the perspectives of the Azerbaijani contract law and anti-trust regulations.
He also advises clients on all areas of employment law.
